Poppy
Poppy, known sometimes as Shrike or Enigma, is the main protagonist of my story.

Story
Poppy was born as Enigma, the daughter of Euphoria and Sedge. Sedge was of the Raspberries, while Euphoria was a stray. When Euphoria got pregnant, Sedge attempted to convince her to join, however, she declined.
All of Euphoria's litter ended up sickly, stillborn, except for one. This one was Enigma. Enigma had a slight oddity though; above her left eye was a smaller, third eye.
Once she was able to walk, Enigma was taken to meet Sedge. While Euphoria didn't want to join the colonies herself, she decided that it would be safest for Enigma to grow up in one. This first meeting between Sedge and Enigma ended up in a spat, though. Sedge was angered that Euphoria had chosen to name Enigma, and furthermore, he believed that a kitten with a birth defect was unbefitting for his legacy. He was violently disgusted and ashamed of having a disfigured daughter. Sedge broke up with Euphoria then and there, and disowned Enigma.
Enigma ended up growing up with her mom in an abandoned beater car. She had a somewhat troubled childhood—she was naturally brash and impulsive, leading her to have trouble making friends or connections. She did have one very good friend, though, Diamond. Diamond was the daughter of Sapphire, a friend of Euphoria, and was around the same age as Enigma.
Around a year and a half into Enigma's life, a ferocious winter struck the island. Despite their reservations, Euphoria and Enigma decided to venture to the Raspberries for food and shelter. Along their way, they ran into a hunting party consisting of Sedge and a tom named Sparrow. Sedge was enraged to see them again, and attacked them, killing Euphoria and near-fatally injuring Enigma. Sparrow managed to break up the fight, and Enigma dashed off into the forest until collapsing from blood loss.
Enigma ended up being found by Beetle, a young cat from the Blackberries. She was taken back to their camp and saved. Between healing, and being near catatonic from grief, Enigma spent months with them.
Once she was strong enough to leave, Enigma made a decision—she was going to kill Sedge.
Enigma chose to change her name to Shrike after this.
Shrike soon befriended a tom named Rayner, his sister, Soot, and their friend, Terracotta. She gradually pushed away Diamond, repeatedly lashing out at her until Diamond decided she had had enough, and cut contact. Shrike kept a close eye on the Raspberries as she bided her time. Her chance came around a year later, when Sparrow, the only witness beside Shrike herself and Sedge, died of old age.
Shrike's vow to kill Sedge was just as much directed at herself, conciously or not. While she had no interest in actively killing herself, the ultimatum of her plan was for her to die at the claws of another cat.
As a purposeful act of sabotage against her personal relationships, Shrike killed Rayner, her then closest friend, and fled.
Now playing the role of a stranger, Shrike befriended Robin within the Raspberries in order to get closer to Sedge. Robin was Sedge's son, and unknowingly Shrike's half-brother. Shrike was surprised to find herself an earnestly good time in the camaraderie of the Raspberries.
This wouldn't last of course. Shrike soon enacted the second stage of her plan: murdering Sedge and fleeing.
Shrike didn't even try to cover her tracks, and the plot was immediately found out. A cat-hunt began.
The cat-hunt lasted autumn through winter. Shrike was first caught by Sea. Both being blue tabbies, Shrike, in her panic, mistook Sea for Rayner and killed her. She was eventually caught by the now widowed Foam, who drove her to the edge of a cliff. In a torrential downpour, the two battled it out, and Shrike lost.
Shockingly, Foam chose to spare Shrike—and not just from death. Foam, in short, told Shrike to get lost and get a life. They ended up lying and saying that Shrike had been thrown off the cliff. The lack of a body was accepted as Shrike being lost to the raging sea.
Shrike did take Foam's words to heart, and she resolved herself to try to redeem herself, in any small way. The start of which, was to rename herself Poppy, her favorite flower.
